Toyohara Chikanobu studied Kano School painting, then
trained with Kuniyoshi and Kunisada before becoming a student of Toyohara
Kunichika. His favorite subjects included traditional Japanese myths and
legends, as well as historical and genre scenes, often depicting women and
children. He is best known for his triptychs (three panel images), many of
which show scenes of courtly life in Imperial Japan. An important
Meiji-era artist, collectors today prize his lively woodblock
prints.
Each woodblock is beautifully matted and framed
using acid-free, archival mats, and UV-filtering conservation glass. The
frame is a black with warm silver accents for a bold, high-contrast image.
A certificate of authenticity accompanies each print. If you'd like an
image of the framing, please call 734-663-2900 or e-mail
