Alberto Vargas (1896-1982)

Alberto Vargas was a Peruvian-born artist and son of a photographer.  After getting an education Switzerland, he came to the United States and eventually worked as the artist behind the Ziegfeld Follies.  This work led him to a long career painting pin-ups with Esquire and in 1960 he began painting fold-out nudes for Playboy

The prints featured here are large color lithographs on high-quality Arches or Opalesque paper.  Each piece is double or triple matted using acid-free, archival matboard.  In the gallery you will also find charming matted magazine pages from his Esquire work from the 1940s.
